Feeling Like This

Fat. Lazy. Blah. Just lost my job...
But hey... let's see how self-sufficient I am...

last year...one lemon

Many more coming...maybe 6?
And a key lime tree nearby with maybe 20 limes....

a plethora of cherry tomatoes yum
3 at a time...

The Good Grapes...muscat, now in veraison.

Thompson Seedless...the victims of howling winds off the wetlands during flowering....not so perfect. Should taste good tho. Maybe a meal...or a bottle?

maybe 12 olives? Look closely....

Dinner al fresco.
This yard is made for Margaritas more than wine.

Fountain no longer fountains...sitting there looking pretty....... or not.

But all is well
in my little backyard.
cherish the moment and move on...

Slovenia National Anthem

Slovenia’s national anthem is called “The Toast”, and below are the first stanza and the last two lines.

Anew the vines have fruited
And borne, my good friends, sweet wine
To charge our blood diluted,
To clear our heart, our eye define,
To suppress
All distress
And waken hope in saddened breast.

And last, my friends, come hither,
Let’s raise unto ourselves a toast!

Excuse me...the Star Spangled Banner is about WAR! I like this. Hmmm.lets find a photo of a bottle of wine... or maybe a vineyard, say Navarro, in the Anderson Valley. One of my favs.

First Zucchini Blossoms of the Summer

Dinner with Uwe and Robert is always magical.

First you start with the blossoms...fresh from the garden....flour

And fry...and salt .....and eat.

We had Sauvignon Blanc from Italy

And follow that with the world's best Chicken Pot Pie.
I eat at Uwe's house several times a week. Guess why...He's my BROTHER.
With this we had 2007 Bryon Pinot Noir from Santa Maria Valley. I loved the wine, they did not. Too extracted, too much color. Not delicate enough. They thought it was too "masculine", I thought it was very California and tasty tho a bit jammy. Is that feminine?
Have you ever thought of wine as "masculine" or feminine? Is that a wine country silly thing? Think about it the next time you have a glass of wine. let me know. maybe I've been here too long...
Or perhaps I should ponder it over another glass of wine...
